290 Square Meters began in 2001 as a small retail space on KNSM Island in Amsterdam — originally 90 square meters, a name born from its exact size. Founded by Ido de Voos, the shop grew not just in meters, but in spirit. Relocating to a former bank vault near Waterlooplein, the store became known worldwide as the only place to create custom NikeID sneakers — but it was much more than that. A curated world of fashion, rare books, jewelry, scents, and conversation. With time, new stores opened in Zürich and Istanbul. In 2012, we went online. And in 2019, the Amsterdam chapter came to a close — while Istanbul continues as 1290SQM, carrying the same soul forward.
